Lizzo Opens Up About Critics Constantly Making Mention Of Her Weight: “I’m So Much More Than That”

Grammy-nominated singer Lizzo made the cover of Rolling Stone‘s latest issue. During her cover story, the 31-year-old opened up about the constant chatter regarding her weight.

“I’m so much more than that,” she explained. “Because I actually present that and I have a whole career; it’s not a trend.”

The “Truth Hurts” vocalist has never shied away from her past issues with self-esteem and depression. Having come so far from those days, the megastar refuses to look back.

“I’ve come to terms with body dysmorphia and evolved. The body-positive movement is doing the same thing. We’re growing together, and it’s growing pains, but I’m just glad that I’m attached to something so organic and alive.”

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, also took the opportunity to address her now-infamous rant on Twitter, where she accused a Postmate driver of stealing her food.

“I was fuckin’ wrong. I’m big enough to admit that shit.”

Despite the banter and constant criticism of everything from her weight to the type of music she creates, she has accepted that these are all growing pains of entering the music industry.

“We eventually get used to everything. So, people, just gon’ have to get used to my ass.”
