People waiting to hear Meghan Markle‘s side of the story following her departure from the royal family will just have to wait a while longer.
Reports began swirling on Friday that the former Duchess of Sussex was planning her first post-kingdom interview with daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, which seemed believable as the two have bonded in the past over a chance encounter at a dog shelter.
“Now, I don’t know her, but Ellen goes ‘Is that your dog?’ And I said, ‘No,’ and she’s like, ‘You have to take that dog.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m deciding.’ And she’s like, ‘Rescue the dog!’ ” Meghan recalled the conversation that the two had in Best Health.
Meghan continued recounting the sweet tale, “And she walks outside to get into her car, but instead of getting in, she turns around and comes and taps on the window glass, and she yells, ‘Take the dog!’ And so I brought him home. Because Ellen told me to.”
DeGeneres also spent time with Prince Harry, Meghan, and Baby Archie during her summer trip to the U.K.
However, a source close to the royal family quickly stepped in to put an end to the reports, telling PEOPLE that reports of a Meghan interview with any show or publication in the near future is “categorically untrue.”
The couple has been a fixture in headlines recently after announcing their decision to live independently of the royal family.
