Chance The Rapper has been tapped as the host of the all new reboot of the original hit show Punk’d, MTV Networks reveals.
Originally hosted by Ashton Kutcher, ‘Punk’d’ showcases some of the entertainment industry’s biggest celebrities being followed by hidden cameras to see how they’d react during the most unbelievable situations.
The show, which first aired on MTV for 10 seasons on and off again between 2003-2015, with the 10th season airing on BET with hosts King Back and DeStorm Power, will now be presented to viewers on a new, upcoming format titled ‘Quibi.’
Chance took to Instagram to announce his new gig, writing, “I got a new job. I’m hosting PUNK’D on @quibi. NO ONE IS SAFE.”
The caption was posted along with a teaser that shows breakout rapper Megan Thee Stallion being Punk’d by being frightened by a loose gorilla as well as clips of other hilarious pranks.
The upcoming season of ‘Punk’d’ will consist of 20 episodes and is promised to, “make use of augmented reality to make the pranks even bolder than before,” Variety reports.
Expressing his excitement to host the show, Chance said in a statement, “Punk’d is one of MTV’s most iconic franchises. “I grew up watching this show, and it’s surreal to be in the driver’s seat this time around on Quibi.”
Quibi is currently working on “dozens” of other series, including partnerships with Laurence Fishburne, Stephen Curry, Anna Kendrick, and many more. The new platform will debut on April 6.
According to Variety, STXtelevision will produce the show along with MTV Studios, while Jason Goldberg is set to executive produce.
The upcoming reboot of ”Punk’d” sees Chance back in the reality television word as he he was a judge alongside T.I. and Cardi B last year on Netflix’s ‘Rhythm + Flow.’
