Donald Trump says abortion there’s no one that’s a “stronger “defender” of the unborn than him.
Thousands of anti-abortion activists gathered in Washington, D.C., on Friday in celebration of the annual March for Life, which included a speech from Trump, who is now the first president in history to ever attend the event. “We’re here for a very simple reason, to defend the right of every child born and unborn to fulfill their God-given potential,” Trump said.
He went on to say that it is a “profound honor” to be the first president to attend and said ”unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House.” He continued, “When it comes to abortion…Democrats have embraced the most radical and extreme positions,” Trump said.
Trump even hinted that he is being impeached because he is in support of banning abortion. “They are coming after me because I am fighting for you,” Trump stated. During the speech, he spoke to women saying they are using their right to vote to fight abortion.
The march lasts for three days and includes a variety of activities, including a youth rally, a Christian rock concert, and an expo featuring anti-abortion organizations and ministries, according to USA Today.
One attendee, 23-year-old Frances Floresca, said she is supporting women who are struggling with opting out of an abortion. “We are fighting for women and babies,” she said. “We’re standing for the women who need to be strong so they don’t get an abortion.” Laws that protect a woman’s right to choose to have an abortion have been walked back drastically in the past year. So far, 58 anti-abortion laws have been passed, 25 of which have banned the procedure.
