The coronavirus is continuing to spread throughout different countries in the world, and a new confirmed case in Wisconsin brings the U.S. tally to 12.
According to public health officials in Wisconsin, the patient recently traveled to China, coming in contact with an infected patient, NBC News reports.
Jeanne Ayers, Wisconsin Division of Public Health administrator, advised residents that there’s no need to worry about contracting the virus.
“At this time, the risk of getting sick from 2019 novel coronavirus is very low,” Ayers told reporters on Wednesday via phone.
According to health authorities, while the patient’s illness is mild, they’re in isolation at their home.
The patient was reportedly checked into the emergency room in a Madison, Wisconsin hospital for treatment. Workers who looked after the patient are being looked after for any symptoms that could link them to the coronavirus as well.
