Los Angeles will host a public memorial on February 24 at Staples Center for Kobe Bryant and eight other passengers killed last month in a tragic helicopter crash.
The announcement comes after weeks of tributes across the city following the Jan. 26 tragedy that killed the Lakers icon, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, the pilot, as well as parents, coaches, and players on Bryant’s Mamba Academy basketball team.
People have converged after the fatal crash, gathering at L.A. Live and Staples Center — where the retired Laker became a basketball legend — to grieve the immense loss. Fans from around the globe have also trekked to the crash site in Calabasas to pay their respects.
The NBA and the rest of the sports world have mourned the loss of this Los Angeles Lakers superstar, now the city of Los Angeles, with put together one final tribute befitting the icon.
