Florida Teacher Charged With Child Abuse After Allegedly Knocking A 7-year-old Student’s Tooth Out

Sending children to school these days can be worrisome for Parents. A first-grade teacher in Riviera Beach, Florida, is accused of violently shoving a 7-year-old boy’s head into a wall, knocking out his tooth, and injuring his lip. 64-year-old Cynthia Smith is accused of shoving the boy while he was moving his hand along a bulletin board on Thursday at Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School.

Cynthia Smith was reportedly arrested Friday on a charge of child abuse. The school’s principal, Katrina Granger, had contacted school district police the day before upon learning of the incident, according to an arrest report.

Smith’s prior records regarding her behavior doesn’t quite help her case. The school’s principal, Katrina Granger, reportedly told police that Smith has been at the school for 12 years and has four documented cases on file regarding her behavior. She also added that the children are afraid of the first-grade teacher. Smith is currently out on a $3000 bond after being charged with child abuse.
