In honor of its 20th anniversary, CBS is looking to revive one of its most-watched, most successful tv-show franchises, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s creative team, series creator, Anthony Zuiker, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer are all in talks to return to the reboot, but this time, with a new limited series format.
The original, which premiered on October 6, 2000, ran for 15 seasons and spawned a slew of spinoffs, including Miami, New York, and Cyber, which starred Shad Moss.
As for the revival, sources say the series will be set in Las Vegas and will feature William Petersen, who for 10 seasons starred as Gil Grissom before returning for the series finale in 2015.
“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” was also recognized as the most-watched tv show in the world on two separate occasions, now with the return, the series is expected to bring a new interest to the franchise, which is partly streaming on Hulu, according to The Hollywood reporter.
