Talk show host Wendy Williams is apologizing after she slammed gay men with comments she made on her Thursday show, but now, she vows to do better.
Williams is feeling the heat after she a segment on Galentine’s Day, in which she dissed gay men planning to celebrate the unofficial holiday, claiming it’s a women-only occasion.
The talk show host said, “I don’t care if you’re gay. You don’t get a [menstruation] every 28 days … you can do a lot that we do, but I get offended by the idea that we go through something you will never go through.”
Williams didn’t stop there, adding, “And stop wearing our skirts and our heels,” remarking women don’t have anything for themselves anymore.
However, Wendy took back the comments today, explaining she didn’t realize how she came across until she re-watched herself. She also promised she didn’t mean to cause any harm, and never conducts her show in a place of malice.
“I did not mean to offend my LGBTQ+ community,” she said. “One thing I can tell you right now is I never do the show in a place of malice.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Williams claimed she was just trying to have a conversation, but she says she fully understands now she may have been “out of touch.”
”I didn’t mean to hurt anybody’s feelings. I’m just having a conversation. If you know me long enough, then you know… I’m not out of touch, except for perhaps yesterday for saying what I said. So I deeply apologize… I will do better.”
