Although police are still investigating the shooting death of Pop Smoke, sources say the rapper himself had worries about gang members in the days prior to his death.
According to TMZ, Pop was scheduled to perform at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn last Sunday night. However, right before the show, he announced via Instagram that the police shut his show down. “Unfortunately NYPD wouldn’t let me perform,” his story post read.
But law enforcement sources say they didn’t shut the show down … Pop canceled himself. The rapper was out on bail in a federal car theft case and was ordered to stay away from gang members. Cops did admit that canceling the show was self-preservation on Pop’s behalf.
As previously reported, Pop Smoke’s death appears to be a targeted hit based on accounts by those who saw the surveillance footage from outside the home where Pop lived and died.
