Alexis Altobelli, the young girl who lost her parents and sister in the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna Bryant, will receive a sports internship in honor of one of Kobe’s final wishes.
Kobe and Gianna are still making magic happen all the way from heaven. On Wednesday, CNN reported that mega agent Scott Boras will be meeting with Alexis this Friday to discuss the arrangement.
According to Lakers general manager #RobRelinka, Kobe was texting him about giving Lexi an internship while he was on the helicopter that tragically crashed last month. Pelinka retold the story on Monday at Staples Center for Kobe’s memorial ceremony. CNN reports that Pelinka was Kobe’s friend, former agent, and the Godfather of Gianna. “A handful of minutes later, Kobe and Gianna and seven other beautiful souls ascended into heaven,” Pelinka said during the ceremony. “Kobe lived to make other people’s lives better all the way up until his final text,” he said.
Boras and Bryant lived in the same neighborhood and attended the same church. However, they never interacted with one another on a business level. Boras heard about Kobe’s wish when Pelinka contacted him after the tragedy. Boras then reached out to Alexis’ older brother J.J., who is a scout for the Boston Red Sox, who said, “Look, let us know how we can help,” he said of Boras.
“I’ve got women in their 20s, 30s, 40s who are going to help Lexi with everything in her life, including college applications, college choices,” he said. “We are going to enrich her and make sure she’s prepared to graduate from school, college and be prepared to enter the job market,” said Boras.
