The hit adult entertainment website, Pornhub, is in hot water and facing a possible shutdown.
The latest lawsuit against Pornhub is coming from an organization called Exodus Cry.
Exodus Cry, a nonprofit organization, sets out to “combine prayer and practical ministry to see sex trafficking and slavery ended around the world,” according to their website.
Because of their mission to end sex trafficking, the group has since started a petition for the site to be taken down once and for all, for their role in the serious crime.
Pornhub has, however, responded with a statement, saying, “Pornhub has a steadfast commitment to eradicating and fighting any and all illegal content on the internet, including non-consensual content and child sexual abuse material. Any suggestion otherwise is categorically and factually inaccurate.”
However, Exodus Cry states otherwise and insists its petition is due to a rise in sex trafficking content and other illegal heinous acts recently.
More specifically, the petition points out that a 15-year-old girl had been located following a year-long search after her mother was informed that she had been being sexually abused on pornhub.
So far, the petition has been signed over 300k times with not much longer to go before its 500k signature goal.
The goal to shut down Pornhub may not be so easy after all, as, according to Bossip, Pornhub is one of the most visited sites in the world, accumulating over 33 billion website clicks and generating almost over half a million dollars each year.
“We are actively working on expanding our safety measures and adding new features and products to our platform to this end, as they become available,” the statement read. “Furthermore, Pornhub will continue to work with law enforcement efforts and child protection non-profits in the goal of eliminating any and all illegal content across the internet.”
