Scotland is on to something great, which should take place in the United States as well… Free pads and tampons.
Earlier this week, a bill was passed by the Scottish Parliament to make all sanitary products free, according to the NY Times.
The products are already free of charge for students in high school, college, and universities.
Monica Lennon, the lawmaker who submitted the proposal, was surprised that she received so much support across Scotland, civic groups, and people who have experienced not being able to afford the products.
The bill was passed with 112 votes in favor, one abstention, and none that are against.
Although the bill hasn’t become a law just yet, they are definitely on their way to providing such necessities for women of all ages at no charge.
