One of the most famous museums in the world closed its doors on Sunday after employees have fears of the Coronavirus.
“We are very worried because we have visitors from everywhere,” Andre Sacristin, a Louvre employee and union representative, told the Associated Press.
The museum receives thousands of visitors a day. According to NY Daily News, of the 9.6 million people who visited the museum in 2019, almost 75% of them came from outside of France.
Many tourists have expressed their frustration about the museum not opening and how they will not receive refunds.
One tourist tweeted, “been waiting in the cold for 3 hours, still no news from staff who are apparently having a “meeting,” and apparently we don’t get refunds for tickets.”
Sacristin stated that there would be a meeting on Monday to iron out the details on the virus prevention policy.
