Married couple Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell have yet to explain where Vallow’s two missing children Tylee, 17, and Joshua ‘JJ,’ 7, are.
Now, Daybell is alleging that his two stepchildren that were last seen in September are, in fact, safe.
According to PEOPLE, Daybell is a religious author, writing about prophecy and the end of the world.
Daybell was caught by ABC News when leaving Hawaii to support Vallow, whom he married not long before the kids went missing during her extradition.
He reportedly told the outlet that the “kids are safe” without offering any other details such as their whereabouts.
Daybell also allegedly told his neighbors in Hawaii that the kids were safe as well.
What makes this case even more disturbing is prior to their marriage last year, Vallow’s husband Charles had been shot and killed four months prior, while Daybell’s wife mysteriously died two weeks after.
The couple fled the scene, leaving their Idaho home, moving to Hawaii, where they were located by local authorities.
According to Rexburg police, there were no signs showing that the kids were ever-present in Hawaii.
Once located, Vallow was demanded by the court to present the kids within five days. However, she didn’t do so, resulting in an arrest.
Daybell and Vallow appeared together on Dec. 5, 2018, for the first time publicly, on a podcast titled ‘Preparing a People’ informing people about the return of Jesus Christ.
Colby Ryan, older half brother of Tylee and J.J., recently spoke out in a YouTube video, begging his mom to end this, stating, “It’s time to do the right thing.”
“I know you know [what] the right thing to do is, and I know you have a good heart,” he added.
Vallow has since been arrested with two felony counts, including desertion and nonsupport of dependent children, PEOPLE reports. Further charges include arrests and seizures and willful disobedience.
Vallow has yet to enter a plea, and according to the prosecutor’s office, each count she faces holds a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.
Vallow’s attorney Craig De Costa claims the charges brought forth against her client are “false accusations,” according to CNN.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Vallow’s bail is set at $5 million.
