Popular court show Judge Judy is coming to an end, according to show host Judy Scheindlin.
In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the popular judge revealed that after the 2020-2021 season of the hit show, it will come to an end, bringing the series to a total of 25 seasons.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I’ve had a 25-year-long marriage with CBS, and it’s been successful,” she explained to DeGeneres. “Next year will be our 25th season, silver anniversary, and CBS sort of felt, I think, they wanted to optimally utilize the repeats of my program.”
However, Scheindlin is not putting the gavel away just yet. She confirmed that her new show ‘Judy Justice’ is in the works.
“Because now they have 25 years of reruns,” she added. “So what they decided to do was to sell a couple of years’ worth of reruns. But I’m not tired, so Judy Justice will be coming out a year later.”
While details surrounding “Justice” have yet to be released, including what station it will air on as Scheindlin insisted, “I can’t tell you yet,” she did leave a little to the imagination.
“Judge Judy, you’ll be able to see next year, a full year, all new shows,” she continued. “The following couple of years, you should be able to catch all the reruns that CBS has sold to the stations that are currently carrying Judge Judy, and Judy Justice will be going elsewhere. Isn’t that fun?”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sheindlin remains the highest-paid TV personality bringing home $47 million annually.
