According to Variety, Comedy Central will be proceeding with releasing more episodes of Crank Yankers. Twenty new episodes will be added to the reboot of the puppet comedy show, produced by Jimmy Kimmel’s production company, Kimmelot. New episodes from the first 20 episodes that premiered back in 2019 are set to return on March 17.
“The successful return of Crank Yankers in 2019 showed that the series is a timeless classic,” Sarah Babineau, Comedy Central’s head of content and creative enterprises shared with Variety. “We can’t wait to see what America’s favorite dirty-talking pranksters have in store for next season!”
The original Crank Yankers first aired on Comedy Central from 2002-2005 and had a brief run on MTV2 in 2007. Jimmy Kimmel will serve as an executive producer of the reboot. Co-creators Daniel Kellison and Adam Carolla are additionally executive producers, while Jimmy Kimmel’s brother, Jonathan Kimmel, will take on the roles of showrunner and executive producer.
“We are thrilled that Crank Yankers has been welcomed back so warmly and look forward to getting back to this important work,” said Jimmy Kimmel.
The return of Crank Yankers back in Sept. 2019 was the best series launch that the network reportedly had in the past three years. The premiere reached nearly nine million viewers after seven days of delayed viewing, which is reported from Nielsen’s figures.
The new season features a seasoned list of comedian voice cast members, including Jimmy Kimmel, Tracy Morgan, Tiffany Haddish, Sarah Silverman, Lil Rel Howery, Jeff Ross, Kathy Griffin, Will Forte, Nick Kroll, Chelsea Peretti, Aubrey Plaza, Nikki Glaser, Ron Funches, Bobby Moynihan, Abbi Jacobson, Arturo Castro, and Natasha Leggero.
