The annual makeup convention, which is held in Los Angeles, is moving from August to December this year in the wake of growing Coronavirus panic.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the popular convention has changed its dates from Aug. 1-2 to Dec. 5-6. The convention’s website posted a statement saying, “Due to COVID-19 concerns and the strong recommendations of our brand partners, talent, consumers and public health officials we have rescheduled BeautyconLA.”
All the tickets purchased for the event will be honored for the newly announced dates. The rescheduling is in line with Governor’s Gavin Newsom’s recently announced ban on gatherings of more than 250 people. Last year’s Beautycon was highly successful with thousands of attendees and was expected to have a high turnout this year (admission packages ranged from $99.99 to $1,999.99).
Beautycon’s New York installment remains scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, while its Tokyo counterpart has been postponed to 2021.
“While we are optimistic that COVID-19 will be better understood by summer, many of our partners have been impacted by the delays and closures of their partners throughout Asia and other parts of the world.”
