R. Kelly has been hit with new federal charges.
The latest charges against singer-songwriter R. Kelly claim Kelly had unprotected, illegal sex with a girl in 2015 without disclosing that he had herpes.
USA Today reports that the new charges have been added in a revised indictment filed in New York just a week after Kelly pleaded not guilty to a separate updated indictment in Chicago, which involved child pornography, sexual exploitation of children, and other allegations.
The court documents state Kelly would fly the minor, who is referred to as Jane #5, to cities like New York and other locations to have sex with him ”without ever telling her that he had contracted herpes and obtaining her consent to sexual intercourse in these circumstances.”
As of now, Kelly’s camp has yet to respond to a request for comment. There are also no arraignment dates set for the charges, according to USA Today. Kelly is facing a slew of state and federal sexual misconduct charges in several states, including Illinois, Minnesota, and New York. Kelly is also facing a racketeering charge that included a business that worked to supply Kelly with girls. Kelly denies all allegations.
Chicago federal prosecutors are expected to file more charges, which will likely push his trial date in Chicago to Oct. 13. His New York trial is set for July 7.
