New Orleans bounce Dj and radio personality died at the age of 44 after being diagnosed with the coronavirus.
Dj Black N Mild, whose real name is Oliver Stokes Jr., was the first Dj to have radio mix dedicated to Nola Bounce. “I was the first DJ in Nola history to have a radio mix show dedicated to Nola Bounce from 03-05 (up to Katrina),” he wrote in a Facebook post back in February.
Aside from being a Dj, the father of four also worked at the Arthur Ashe Charter School in New Orleans’ Gentilly neighborhood.
According to The Times-Picayune, Stokes left work on March 9th with a fever. He documented his illness on social media with his last pat saying, “pneumonia not the flu” on March 11, according to Billboard.
Black N Mild passed away Thursday, eight days after being diagnosed, and it was confirmed on Friday.
