Texas lieutenant governor Dan Patrick said he and other senior citizens would be willing to risk their livelihoods if it meant the country would “get back to work” amid the coronavirus.
We know our grandparents love us, but are they willing to risk their lives to save this entire country against the wrath of the coronavirus? Republican lieutenant governor Dan Patrick seems to think so. On Monday, Patrick sat in as a guest commentator for Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and shared his thoughts on how the elderly community is dealing with the pandemic.
“Those of us who are 70 plus, we’ll take care of ourselves. But don’t sacrifice the country,” said Patrick, co-signing Trump’s recent thoughts about reopening the country mid-April. Patrick, who is just one week shy of 70, said it’s not the virus that threatens him but rather his fear that the country could possibly enter an economic crisis if people don’t return to work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“No one reached out to me and said, ‘As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that America loves for its children and grandchildren?’ And if that is the exchange, I’m all in,” Patrick said.
From California to New York, millions across the country have been ordered to stay home unless travel is needed for essential business. The government and health officials are urging communities to perform social distancing and limit large gatherings.
