The defiant spring breakers like Brady Sluder, who said things like, “If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I’m not gonna let it stop me from partying,” last week are being to see the error of their ways.
According to NBC News, the United States is now at about 55,000 cases of the coronavirus, which includes more than 800 deaths. The country has fast become the new center of the pandemic. So naturally, Sluder has revised his original message: “Don’t be arrogant and think you’re invincible like myself.”
Sluder posted a lengthy apology on his Instagram saying.
“I would like to sincerely apologize for the insensitive comment I made in regards to COVID-19 while on spring break. I wasn’t aware of the severity of my actions and comments,” he began. “I’d like to take this time to own up to the mistakes I’ve made and apologize to the people I’ve offended.”
The 22-year-old revealed that he has elderly people in his life, whom he “adores.” He didn’t want to put anyone at risk. Now, he understands how serious the virus is and is encouraging people to follow the guidelines on how to stay safe and reduce risk. Most of all, he wanted to express how sorry he is.
“I will continue to reflect and learn from this and continue to pray for our well-being. I deeply apologize from the bottom of my heart for my insensitivity and unawareness of my actions,” Sluder said.
