Social Media: Does it ruin relationships?

Social media is running the world and has been named the ultimate relationship killer. We are constantly liking, favorting, retweeting, reblogging and slipping into each others direct messages. We can’t help but stay up all night creeping through comments and posting photos to get our follower count way way way way up.

This is all fun and games until you get into a relationship. Once you find bae, things on social media change a lot. Before, your crush would favorite your tweet to get your attention, now they are looking through your favorites asking “Who is this chick/guy?” Before, you used to leave them cute comments on their photos from 83 weeks ago, now they are looking at your photos asking “Why did he/she leave this comment?” Before, you could have a casual conversation in your DMs, now bae is asking to scroll through them.

Is this social media’s fault that we just can’t keep our likes and comments to ourselves or is it just the user?

Here’s what I have to say about it. I don’t believe a social network can cause you to cheat on your boo thing. Although you can not control what others post on your social media in the comment sections, you CAN control how you react.

Common courtesy rules include not flirting back with others, respectfully telling others you are in a relationship, deleting messy and over the top comments, and just over all staying faithful for bae.

Honestly, social media does not end relationships, people do. It is possible to have a healthy relationship with bae without complete deleting all of the apps off your phone. Don’t let social media be the “cause” of your break up.
