It’s closing in on one month now since the NBA went on hiatus due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
But, Danny Green of the Los Angeles Lakers is still fighting to try to save the current season by “any means necessary.”
“Right now we’re fighting,” Green said on his Inside the Green Room podcast. “Most guys think that for sure we’re going to have a season, it’s just going to start later than we expected, and just trying to get the next season to be pushed back is not going to be as easy as people think it’s going to be.”
Green also spoke on the National Basketball Players Association being optimistic on the season’s return at some point.
“Things could change, but after a recent #TheNBPA meeting #DGreen_14 feels confident the NBA season will resume,” Green wrote on his official Twitter for his podcast.
During the podcast, Green also discussed the possibility of broadcast partners not being on board with pushing the 2020-21 season back, with the likelihood of the current season not concluding until September.
But on the other hand, Brian Windhorst of ESPN spoke on Friday about recent discussions with the league that foresee the current season being canceled.
“The NBA is angling to set up a deal that enables them to shut the season down,” he said.
He also went on to say that with the decrease in coronavirus cases in China, the country attempted to restart its basketball season, but recently the attempt came to another halt. Which, according to Bleacher Report, is worth noting because “China’s attempt to restart sports are being watched closely by leagues across the world.”
Jared Dudley of the Los Angeles Lakers also spoke on returning to the court in an interview with The Athletic, and his opinion seemed to be more realistic than his teammates.
“It’s looking more bleak by the day,” he told The Athletic’s, Michael Lee.
But, Green believes the current season could pick up in May.
