A Florida civil court judge is calling out Future’s lawyer and his alleged baby mama
Eliza Reign’s lawyer for mishandling the rapper’s defamation case against Reign.
According to Bossip, Judge Cecilia Altonaga reprimanded Reign and Future’s lawyers for failing to agree on regular legal procedures for the situation. One of their tasks was to agree on a future court date schedule for the defamation trial. In the order obtained by Bossip, Altonaga wrote: “The Court is frankly dismayed by the lack of professionalism shown by counsel for both parties.”
The judge also criticized the lawyers’ filed court documents, saying they were covered with grammatical errors, and stated that Reign’s attorney was “rambling” in their motion. In response to the judge’s complaints, the judge said Reign’s attorney did nothing but copy and pasted the same text from the original filing into a new one. Meanwhile, Altonaga said the latest court motion made by Future’s legal team shows their “contentious communications” and “their inability to even agree upon a proposed schedule to govern this case is further evidence of a lack of professionalism.”
According to the Bossip, the judge has denied Future’s lawyer’s motion to force Reign and her legal team to proceed with their proposed case schedule after the two parties failed to agree. But now, the parties will have to appear by phone this week to go over a schedule for their case.
This legal battle stems back to February 2020 when Future filled a lawsuit against Reign, alleging she defamed him by openly discussing their previous sexual encounters and others matters from his life. He claims Reign’s words have damaged his reputation and, as a result, wants her to pay up.
