Rihanna Partners With Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey To Donate $2.1 Million A Piece To Support Domestic Abuse Victims Amid The Coronavirus Pandemic

Rihanna is truly a national treasure that continues to throw her support behind those affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

After donating $5 million to charities through her Clara Lionel Foundation to provide relief amidst the outbreak, RiRi then donated personal protective equipment to the state of New York. And as recent as last week, Rihanna joined forces with Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation to pledge another $2 million in grants to help ease the burden and add support to the families of frontline health workers, first responders, inmates, the elderly, and the homeless in both New York and Los Angeles.⠀

It’s now being reported that Rihanna has partnered with the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, to donate $2.1 million apiece to the Mayor’s Fund of Los Angeles to support domestic violence victims affected by “shelter in place” order caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

The $4.2 million will assist with ten weeks of support that includes shelter, meals, and counseling for individuals and their children that suffers from domestic abuse.

It’s reported that since the shelter in place order, at least 90 people per week are being turned away from domestic abuse shelters due to overcrowding in L.A.

With most shelters reaching their capacity and reported abuse increasing, RiRi, a survivor of domestic abuse, along with Dorsey released a statement, saying, in part, ”That while we are beginning in Los Angeles, we understand that victims of domestic violence exist all over the world, so this is just the beginning.”

The $2.1 million contributions from Dorsey is not the first donation during this outbreak. Earlier in the week, Dorsey donated a cool billion dollars to coronavirus relief efforts.
