The CEO of the Tokyo Olympics is keeping it real and saying there’s a serious possibility the Games will NOT go down in 2021, as previously scheduled.
The Tokyo organizing committee’s CEO Toshiro Muto says it’s impossible to predict where the world will be with the COVID-19 pandemic when the Games are rescheduled to be held in July 2021.
“I don’t think anyone would be able to say if it is going to be possible to get it under control by next July or not,” Muto said honestly, according to TIME. ”We’re certainly are not in a position to give you a clear answer.”
Muto was asked if there was a contingency plan in case the rescheduled games couldn’t go on, and his response was not optimistic.
“Rather than think about alternatives plans … Mankind should bring together all of its technology and wisdom to work hard so they can development treatments, medicines, and vaccines,” Muto stated.
