Social distancing has been hard for all of us. But, it has been especially challenging for a Philly woman by the name of Jacqueline McBride. McBride, 27, was taken into custody by police earlier this week for spitting in a customer and an employees’ face at a high-end Italian supermarket.
Alexis Danilo, one of the victims, said: “she was waiting in line to enter the market when a woman (McBride) approached her and got very close, breaking the six-foot social distancing rule.” Danilo took a few steps back, which she said angered the woman. “She got really upset by that, and then she said, ‘B—, I don’t have the disease,’” Danilo recalled to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Danilo, 36, proceeded to enter the store, ignoring the woman. But, while she was picking out meat and cheese for dinner at her parents’, the McBride “intentionally ran into her.”
According to The Inquirer, Danilo said to McBride, “that was really rude, we are in a pandemic.” McBride responded, “I’ll fight you right now,” and then proceeded to “pull down the red bandanna covering her mouth, spit in Danil’s face, and storm off.” Leaving Danilo in shock.
A store manager who witnessed the event told Danilo that the same woman came into the store Saturday and spit at an employee after getting into an argument. Police confirmed this.
McBride has been charged with simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment.
“I think the cops did a great job responding so quickly,” said Danilo. “The biggest thing for me was that this woman is likely to do it to other people if she’s done it two times,” she said. “I think this woman should be locked up. You should never be spitting on anybody, and given the fact that there’s a pandemic, you shouldn’t be doing that. I am happy she’s not going to do it to anybody else.”
