Charlie Brooker, the creator of Netflix’s hit show Black Mirror, revealed he is not currently working on the sixth season of the dystopian anthology series.
“I’ve been busy doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing,” Brooker told UK’s Radio Times in a recent interview when asked about a new season. “At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those.”
Given the current state of the world, Brooker’s darkened SiFi episodes may not mix well with the ongoing #coronavirus pandemic, causing the longest wait yet for new content.
Instead, he has opted to work on pieces he finds humor in. “I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set,” Brooker said.⠀
Vanity Fair describes the Emmy Award-winning show as a” thought-provoking series that has become shorthand for all the ways in which technology is actually making our lives worse.” The show highlights Brooker’s unique skill set of entertaining his audience by experimenting with the possibilities that innovations could inadvertently lead.
Brooker’s sentiments on holding off on probing these satirical ideas for the sake of our current culture is logical.
BBC confirmed Brooker is set to return to the screen with an Antiviral Wipe special on May 14th at 9 pm.
