A police officer shot and killed A Black man during a police chase that was partially recorded on Facebook.

A video that was taken on Wednesday shows the incident leading up to and after Indianapolis police fatally shot 21-year-old Dreasjon “Sean” Reed. Police shot #SeanReed on the north side near West 62nd Street and Michigan Road; authorities claim they found a gun near Reed. The Marion County coroner’s office identified the young man on Thursday. Since the shooting, more than 100 people have visited the scene mourning Reed’s death and chanting “No justice, no peace.” Reed’s family says they have yet to receive any information about the incident.

Police began chasing a car they saw driving recklessly on Interstate 66, according to Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Assistant Chief Chris Bailey. Deputy Chief Kendale Adams, who was driving an unmarked car, saw the driver almost hit another car. Adams called for back-up and started trailing the vehicle. Eventually, Chief Randal Taylor joined the chase, the press release said. Police say the driver began speeding up to 90 miles per hour, and the cops started to slow down because of how fast the person was driving. By that point, other marked squad cars reportedly joined the pursuit as well. USA Today reports the number of police cars that responded has not been confirmed.

Police saw the driver go eastbound on 62nd street, where they parked at a business. The officer got out of his vehicle, and so did the driver,  who took off running. The officer and the man ended up getting into a confrontation, and the officer’s taser was drawn at some point. At 6:16 p.m., the officer, who also is Black, called in the shooting. Reed died at the scene.

A video of the chase from the driver’s perspective began circulating on social media. The man had started a Facebook Live recording during the high-speed chase. “You gotta look,” he says, talking to viewers as he records himself driving. He then props the phone, so it shows what’s behind him. “It’s just one right now,” Moments later, the man believes he had lost the officer and tried to figure out where he’d driven. “What street is this? I’m going to park this (expletive) and get the (expletive) out,” he says in the video. “At 62nd and Michigan, somebody come get my stupid (expletive)!” “Please come get me. Please come get me!” he says.

About 18 seconds later, the man responds to another voice, saying, “What’d you say?” The officer in the video can be heard telling the man to stop. “F*ck you,” the driver replied. Gunshots come after about another 11 seconds. “It is believed at this time that shots were fired by both the officer and the suspect,” Bailey told reporters. The man seems to drop to the ground, and two more shots are fired. Four thousand people were on live watching by that point in the incident. A cop can be heard in the video saying, “I think it’s going to be a closed casket, homie” The IMPD is investigating the shooting; officials have the Facebook footage but have yet to confirm its authenticity. The police officer who shot Reed has been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.

Reed’s sister, Jazmine Reed, says while she agrees her brother shouldn’t have been involved in a police chase, she says he shouldn’t be dead either. He could be behind bars, but now he’ll be in a casket the next time I see him,” she said.
