Lil Durk is giving back in a major way. Hailing from Chicago but now based in Atlanta, the multi-Platinum rapper has consistently remained relevant in the rap game for almost a decade now. Durk is best known for his melodic style of rapping, spearheading this new wave of trap, and influencing rising rappers from all around the world.
If you follow Durk in the slightest, you know he’s about his paper. But now, the 27-year-old is giving back amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This Friday (May 8), Durk will be personally hand-delivering 450 free hot meals and 500 masks to frontline workers and all those who are at risk in the A.
In an exclusive quote to Baller Alert, Durk states, “Since I moved to Atlanta three years ago, this city has shown me nothing but love. The people, the music community, everyone embraced me — and that’s major not being from Atlanta. Everyone knows Atlanta loves their own, so to get that type of love and respect when I first arrived felt great. Only right, I always return the love.”
Donating to two facilities, the first will be 200 meals and 200 masks to Northeast Georgia Medical Center at 11 am, followed by 300 meals and 2300 masks to the Hosea Williams Feed The Homeless food pantry at 2pm. The meals provided will be Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls and Fries, thanks to Big Dave’s Cheesesteaks.
Of course, this isn’t the first time he’s given back. At the end of last month, Durk traveled back to The Chi to bring warm meals to healthcare workers on Chicago’s frontlines against COVID. Durk again personally showed face at Chicago’s Rush Hospital with to-go meals from PHLAVZ Restaurant, owned by Durk’s manager.
As far as music, Durk recently previewed the tracklist to his forthcoming project titled Just Cause Y’all Waited 2. As we wait patiently for the 15-track tape, fans are able to stream singles “All Love” and “Viral Moment.”
