Rock Legend Little Richard Passes Away At The Age Of 87

The originator of Rock-n-Roll, who has influenced many musicians, has passed away.

According to Rolling Stone, Little Richard has passed away at the age of 87.

Richard Wayne Penniman, Little Richard, was born in Macon, Georgia. After being kicked out of his family’s home as a teenager, Penniman was taken in by a white family, who ran a club that got him his start.

Little Richard’s most successful work was songs from the mid-1950s like “Tutti Frutti,” “Long Tall Sally,” and “Good Golly Miss Molly.”

Throughout his career, Richard has made appearances in many of our childhood favorites that will forever keep us connected. He sang the theme song to “The Magic School Bus,” sang “Rubber Ducky” inside a bathtub on “Sesame Street,” and was a guest star on “Pee-wee’s Christmas Special.”

Little Richard was among the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s first class of inductees in 1986. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy and performed at Bill Clinton’s presidential inauguration in 1992.
