Usher will forever be a GOAT in the R&B game, but with that comes a spotlight that he can never escape. Most recently, the “Confessions” artist joined Swizz Beatz on Instagram live to discuss a few topics, including the recent VERZUZ Instagram Live battles that were birthed during quarantine.
They mad at Usher for saying NM is a product of Lil Kim. Lil Kim's influence can be found all over female rap. KIM took heat for sexually explicit lyrics, music videos & all just so yall favs could be comfortable doing it YEARS LATER. Denying it on Stan Twitter wont change that. pic.twitter.com/q45199yKsd

When Swizz Beatz brings up the idea of having Nicki Minaj versus Lil Kim in a possible VERZUZ, Usher holds nothing back on his opinions. Usher simply responds, “Nah, Nicki is a product of Kim.”
Some may believe Lil Kim paved the way for Nicki simply because her career came first. The Brooklyn, New York rapper was discovered by Biggie in 1994 and went on to release her debut studio album “Hard Core,” which hailed timeless hits “No Time” and “Crush on You.”
Nicki, on the other hand, exploded onto the rap scene as she joined Young Money back in 2009. The Queens, New York rapper created her own lane with her own theatrical personality as Queen Barbie with endless costumes and wigs. Her debut studio album Pink Friday peaked at #1 on the US Billboard 100 and is currently 3x certified Platinum.

Whether or not Nicki drew influences from Lil Kim, of course Nicki Minaj fans were NOT having it. Many took to social media to defend the Queen Barbie, proving why she exactly is the Queen of Rap.
Who even knew about this? Usher only had 2 bops in the last 10 years and that’s because of Nicki Minaj.

Another Twitter follower stated, “Who even knew about this? Usher only had 2 bops in the last 10 years and that’s because of Nicki Minaj.”
Usher just told the truth. Everyone that witnessed Lil’ Kim in her prime shares this same sentiment.
Hell, even Nicki Minaj knows that she’s a product of Lil’ Kim. I don’t see what’s the fuss. https://t.co/I5LFBG3Nm4

Some also defended Usher, stating, “Usher just told the truth. Everyone that witnessed Lil’ Kim in her prime shares this same sentiment. Hell, even Nicki Minaj knows that she’s a product of Lil’ Kim. I don’t see what’s the fuss.”
Swizz also brings up the fact that Usher was trending on Twitter, a byproduct of being a guest on VERZUZ.
