⁣Aaron Rodgers answered questions from reporters on Friday about the safety of playing an NFL game during the pandemic. ⁣

Aaron refrained from voicing a political opinion but said, “Yeah, that’s a good question. Like many of us, and I’ve seen a lot of comments on this.”

“Obviously, my story coming back from Peru before the country kind of went into lockdown, I think we all were buying into the idea of quarantine to flatten the curve,” Aaron told Stephen Watson.⁣

⁣”I think there are a lot of questions now that it’s more of a house arrest to find a cure with people wondering what exactly that means as far as the future of the country and the freedoms we are allowed to have at this point,” he added.

Aaron’s answer mimicked other high profile opinions like U.S Attorney William Barr and Billionaire Eron Musk, whom both have likened the coronavirus lockdown to being on house arrest. ⁣

Recently, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, where the quarterback lives deemed Governor Tony Evers stay-home mandate “unlawful, invalid, and unenforceable,” and thus preventing the Governor from extending the order pass May 26. ⁣

Aaron also elaborated on the importance of sports during these unprecedented times.⁣

“I think sports has always been something that’s brought people together. I’m very hopeful that we can have a season. I think the important thing to think about, though, which is more important than that is the state of the country and the fact that we have 36-plus million people on unemployment right now. You have rising poverty levels to go along with the unemployment. You have suicide hotline up 8,000 percent,” Aaron said.⁣

“There’s a lot of problems going on in the country right now associated with the fear around this pandemic. I hope that we can use some common sense moving forward and make decisions that are going to be in the best interests of all people moving forward, and I hope that sports are a part of that at some point,” he continued.

⁣As of right now, the NFL has every intention of starting there 2020 NFL season as scheduled. However, league officials have implemented a few alterations if stay-home restrictions interfere with the season starting as expected.  ⁣

If stay-home orders stall games until October, the NFL could decide to either move Week 1 of the season back to a new, approved start date. Or it could forgo the lost weeks on the schedule and begin at Week 5, playing through Week 17.⁣
