Ex- Oregon football signee Luke Hill has been arrested for attempted murder, according to Yahoo Sports.
On Tuesday, Hill was arrested and charged on eight different criminal counts, which included attempted murder.
Hill reportedly attempted to shoot at Ishmael Leggett, a Rhode Island Basketball signee. The pair had a history together as they attended the same High School together.
“The preliminary investigation revealed Hill shot at another male who was outside at that location,” a spokeswoman for Prince George County Police Department told ESPN in a statement via email. “The victim was not hurt. This was not a random crime.”
The shooting, according to the outlet, took place Monday at 7:30 PM. Leggett was uninjured in the attempted shooting despite being targeted by Hill.
Official paperwork from Maryland District Court records revealed that Hill is also being charged with first-degree assault, possession of a loaded handgun, possession of a handgun, possession of a firearm as a minor, use of an assault weapon, felonious firearm use, and reckless endangerment.
Hill has a scheduled court-ordered appearance set for June 19.
Though Hill signed with Oregon after committing to the institution last Spring, Oregon coach Mario Cristobal has released a statement regarding Hill’s arrest informing that Hill “was informed earlier this spring that he would not be a member of our program.”
