The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called after a 29-year-old woman fell to her death from an apartment building balcony on the 24th floor located in the High Park area of Toronto.
Toronto CTV News reports that officers were called to the scene for a domestic incident around 5:15 p.m Wednesday evening. When the officers got to the scene, they saw a woman on the balcony, the SIU reportedly stated.
“A short time later, the woman fell from the balcony to the ground below,” the SIU said in a news release Wednesday evening.

The SIU reported that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Two investigators and two forensic investigators have been reportedly assigned to the case.
There has been speculation that the woman’s death was a murder at the hands of the police after a video surfaced on Instagram Wednesday evening shortly after the fatal incident. The man in the Instagram video said, in short, that the woman was his cousin and that she was killed by the police. He tagged well know political activist, Shaun King, to assist him. Shaun King replied, “I see this. I stand with you. Let me see how I can best help.” King proceeded with asking the man to email him directly.
According to CTV News, “The SIU is asking anyone who may have information about the investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. Anyone who may have video evidence related to the incident is asked to upload the footage to the SIU website.”
The SIU is an agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury, or allegations of sexual assault.
