Trump Irresponsibly Shares Tweet That Promotes An Alleged Hidden Agenda Behind Wearing Masks, Including ‘Silence, Slavery And Social Death’

Although the CDC has encouraged wearing masks to prevent the spread of COVID-19, many individuals think that there is a hidden message behind suggested health precaution, and will not wear one because of it.

While there are several different conspiracy theories linked to the use of masks, Donald Trump recently highlighted the theory that masks showcase the “culture of silence, slavery, and social death.”

Trump retweeted the tweet that linked wearing masks to slavery, with the response, “so many different viewpoints!”

The original tweet included an article from Molly McCann, who argued that masks are “anti-American” and an example of “indefinite government expansion.”

“Mandatory masks are a critical predicate conditioning us to accept abuses of our liberty,” McCann wrote.

McCann argued that masks are ineffective when it comes to preventing further spread of the disease, which she claimed is why we were initially encouraged not to wear them. Still, as Business Insider pointed out, she failed to mention that there was a shortage of PPE equipment throughout the country, which included masks.

Trump not only responded to the tweet, promoting it to the 80 million+ users that follow him, but he also retweeted the tweet from columnist Lee Smith that said: “Masks aren’t about public health but social control. Image of Biden in black mask endorses culture of silence, slavery, and social death.”

As we all know, Trump is on a mission to smear Biden’s campaign, however, promoting to millions of Americans to not wear masks during a national health crisis while there is still no end in sight, is just irresponsible and unethical, especially when states are beginning to reopen, and there’s the possibility of a second wave of the virus.
