The Hanover County man who drove his truck into a crowd of protestors in Virginia is a leader of the Ku Klux Klan.
Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor said Monday that Harry H. Rogers, 36, “is an admitted leader of the Ku Klux Klan and a propagandist for Confederate ideology.”
Rogers was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding, felony vandalism, and assault and battery. He is being held without bond, according to Richmond Times-Dispatch.
On Sunday, Rogers drove down Lakeside Avenue on the median and up to protesters, then revved his engine and plowed through the crowd. One person was injured.

“While I am grateful that the victim’s injuries do not appear to be serious, an attack on peaceful protesters is heinous and despicable, and we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” Taylor said.”The accused, by his own admission and by a cursory glance at social media, is an admitted leader of the Ku Klux Klan and a propagandist for Confederate ideology.”
She said the office is investigating whether to charge Rogers with a hate crime.
Rogers’ girlfriend said he only went to “observe” the protests.“He did not go there with violent tendencies,” she said, adding that he was trying to protect her 14-year-old son who was in the car.
