75-Year-Old Protestor Martin Gugino Can’t Walk After Being Shoved By Two Buffalo Police Officers

As protests in response to George Floyd’s murder continue to take place throughout the country, it’s important to be as safe as possible during these protests, as many people have been seriously injured.

That was the case for 75-Year-Old Martin Gugino, who participated in a protest in Buffalo, New York.

According to CNN, Gugino was pushed by two officers earlier this month, and as a result, he now suffers from a fractured skull and is unable to walk.

“I am not at liberty to elaborate at this time other than to confirm that his skull was fractured,” Gugino’s attorney Kelly Zarcone said in a statement. “While he is not able to walk yet, we were able to have a short conversation before he became too tired. He is appreciative of all of the concern about him, but he is still focused on the issues rather than himself.”

While Gugino hasn’t spoken with press directly, he gave a statement relayed by Zarcone, in which he said he doesn’t want the attention to be on his situation.

“I think it’s very unnecessary to focus on me. There are plenty of other things to think about besides me,” Gugino said, according to Zarcone.

The officers responsible for Gugino’s injuries are Aaron Torgalski, 39, and Robert McCabe, 32, who both have plead not guilty to second-degree assault and also have been released “on their own recognizance without bail,” the outlet reports.

As fas as Gugino’s recovery, Zarcone says she doesn’t “expect much change at all this week.”
