A Bellamy Middle School sixth-grade teacher was fired on Friday after making a racist post about what “privilege” is to her on Facebook.
The statement highlights the writer’s ignorance as she outwardly criticizes those who protest and receive federal assistance.
“Privilege is having most of your life paid for by the people who DO HAVE TO DEAL WITH RISING TAXES AND COSTS,” The Bellamy Middle School teacher wrote. “you know, us so-called “PRIVILEGED” the ones who pay while you TAKE TAKE TAKE!”
In a statement, the Massachusetts school quickly denounced the words made by a member of their staff. They did not identify the teacher but stated on their Facebook that they were investigating the issue and that they cannot comment on the employee’s personal issues, according to 22News.
“We do not tolerate any form of racist, bigoted, discriminatory or hateful speech from members of our staff,” the statement read. “We expect all of our staff to embrace the diversity of our district and support the families we serve.”
Chicopee Public Schools announced that the “educator is no longer employed” with them, adding that, “We hope our swift response to this matter demonstrates our commitment to diversity, equity, and supporting all members of our school community.”
She isn’t wrong though..
Apparently “Free Speech” is another “privilege” only reserved for certain groups to utilize.
Instead of saying us, she should have said the working class. In today’s society people get very
sensitive when you speak the truth. It doesn’t matter the race. People are quick to call out racism, but scared to call out those that abuse the system. Her wording could have been placed better but she’s not a racist. She has a beautiful half black grandson whom she loves with all her soul, and three beautiful children who are half Puerto Rican. The big picture here is that public assistance is suppose to be temporary until you get back on your feet. It shouldn’t be a life term.
