A woman named Natalie has been arrested in connection with the fire that destroyed the Atlanta Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was fatally shot earlier this month, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say a warrant was issued this week for Natalie, who they allege was captured on surveillance video setting the restaurant on fire after Brooks was killed on June 12. She was arrested Tuesday afternoon, reportedly around 3:30 pm, while Brooks’ funeral was being held in Atlanta.
Some reports have raised the possibility that she is the same woman Brooks mentioned to officers during his traffic stop. Brooks reportedly told police he had been with someone named Natalie that night. Authorities have not confirmed that the two are the same person, and her relationship to Brooks has not been independently confirmed.
The former officer who fired the shots, Garrett Rolfe, has been charged with felony murder and other counts. She is only accused at this stage and has not been convicted of anything.
