Singer Duffy is calling for Netflix’s film 365 Day to be taken down because it “glamorizes rape.”
Netflix’s film “365 Days” has been the latest trendy movie to watch on the streaming platform. While trendy, it’s also been triggering for survivors of rape and abuse. Earlier this year, Duffy went public about her own personal story about being kidnapped and raped, and now she has penned a letter to Netflix CEO #ReedHastings, calling for the controversial film to be taken down. In her letter, she says the movie “glamorizes the brutal reality of sex trafficking, kidnapping, and rape” and calls the decision to have it on Netflix “irresponsible.”
“Today, I really don’t know what to think, say, or do, other than to reach out and explain to you in this letter how irresponsible it was of Netflix to broadcast the film ‘365 Days’,” she wrote. ”I don’t want to be in this position to have to write to you, but the virtue of my suffering obliges me to do so, because of a violent experience that I endured of the kind that you have chosen to present as ‘adult erotica,’” writes Duffy. She continues saying that “’365 Days’ glamorizes the brutal reality of sex trafficking, kidnapping, and rape. This should not be anyone’s idea of entertainment, nor should it be described as such, or be commercialized in this manner.”
“It grieves me that Netflix provides a platform for such ‘cinema’, that eroticizes kidnapping and distorts sexual violence and trafficking as a “sexy” movie. I just can’t imagine how Netflix could overlook how careless, insensitive, and dangerous this is. It has even prompted some young women, recently, to jovially ask Michele Morrone, the lead actor in the film, to kidnap them,” she added. Her letter also addressed those who have watched the film. “And because ‘365 Days’ has proved enormously popular, I also address this letter to viewers directly. I encourage the millions who have enjoyed the movie to reflect on the reality of kidnapping and trafficking, of force and sexual exploitation, and of an experience that is the polar opposite of the glossy fantasy depicted in ‘365 Days,’” Duffy said.
The Polish film has grossed $9 million and received a limited run in the UK, according to Deadline. It was added to Netflix last month and is currently sitting at No. 5 in the streamer’s UK top 10. The “erotic drama” has sparked the creation of a petition on change.org, calling for the removal of the film, saying it glorifies human trafficking and Stockholm Syndrome. The petition now has 3,500 signatures. Netflix’s description of the film reads: “A woman falls victim to a dominant mafia boss, who imprisons her and gives her one year to fall in love with him.”

Hmmm.. If 50 shades is removed, we go after 365 days next. I did not like any of them but hey, it’s a personal opinion. I cannot watch a movie with Dakota Johnson. That role made her seem stupid to me. I wanted Laura to cut that b***h Massimo for his actions, but she sex starved.
Yeah art is supposed to evoke emotions, I got strong ones too😂😂😂
