Rock music icon, Lenny Kravitz recently announced on his social media that he’s releasing a memoir set to highlight the first 25 years of his life.
“The book is about the first 25 years of my life, culminating in the release of my first album,” he said in a clip uploaded to Instagram along with the announcement. “Those years shaped me and taught me so much about myself and also formed a message of love and unity, that I still believe in still this day. It’s a message I stand for and will live by forever.”
The book Let Love Rule: A Memoir, which is named after his debut album, will arrive on stands Oct. 6.
The memoir will be published by Henry Holt and Company and consists of a total of 272 pages.
“Despite his aspirational energy, [Lenny] turns down record deal after record deal, until he finds his true voice…the same voice that is able to declare Let Love Rule to an international audience is the very heart of this story,” the publisher shared.
Amongst the topics to be discussed in the book include Kravitz’s experience in previous hometowns such as New York and Los Angeles, to name a few.
Aside from his previous life experiences, the memoir will also include reflections about his family, which includes his father Sy Kravitz, mom Roxie Roker and ex-wife, Lisa Bonet, who is described as “the young actress who becomes his muse.”
“I’m looking forward to sharing my journey with you. I hope to see you all out on the road as soon as I can,” Kravitz added.
The Memoir is co-written with biographer David Ritz who has also worked with many legends in the past, including Aretha Franklin, Janet Jackson, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Willie Nelson, and Joe Perry. He’s worked on over 50 books throughout his career, New York Daily News reports.
“My life is all about opposites,” Kravitz expresses in the book. “Black and white. Jewish and Christian. The Jackson 5 and Led Zeppelin. I accepted my Gemini soul. I owned it. I adored it. Yins and yangs mingled in various parts of my heart and mind, giving me balance and fueling my curiosity and comfort.”
Though the book isn’t due out to retailers for a few more months, the book is now available for preorder online.
“I see my story as a suite of songs that have a magical connection,” Kravitz continues. “I never understood that connection until I sat down to write. It was then that the magic started to flow.”
