According to Bill O’Reilly, African Pride is scary and reminiscent of “Radical Islam” — which we all know is the Fox News codeword for “terrorism.”
On a recent episode of Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor, Bill shows a photograph of Barack Obama taken in the 90’s. O’Reilly uses the photo of Obama, dressed in traditional African clothing at his half-brothers wedding, to drive his point that Barack Obama has “deep emotional ties to Islam.” O’Reilly makes a point to mention that Barack’s birth father, who abandoned Barack and his mother, was Muslim and later switched to Atheism. Then O’Reilly brings up that Obama’s mother remarried to another Muslim man and then moved to Indonesia where “Barack was exposed to Islam,” despite going to Catholic school as a child.
Here’s the issue with Bill O’Reilly — he’s an idiot.
The photographs he used as evidence that Barack Obama is Muslim, by no means make his case. Barack Obama was dressed in a Kaftan — traditional AFRICAN clothing. Not Muslim, AFRICAN. All this shows is that Barack Obama is heavily rooted in his AFRICAN culture. Not only that, he wore it to his AFRICAN brother’s wedding. I’m not understanding the point O’Reilly is attempting to make.
Furthermore, how could a man (Barack’s father) who abandoned him as a child, have any influence his religious beliefs? And bringing up that Barack and his mother moving to Indonesia exposed him to Islam is completely ignoring the fact that Protestantism, Catholicism, Hinduism, Buddhism and Confucianism are all also prominent religions in Indonesia.
