Dwight Howard says he isn’t wearing a mask and he doesn’t believe in getting vaccinated.
Howard has doubled down on his stance about the #coronavirus pandemic, and he’s taken his thoughts even further now by saying he doesn’t believe in getting vaccinated. On Sunday, the Los Angeles Laker took to Instagram Live, and while there answered a question from a fan about whether or not he believed in getting vaccinated. “No, I don’t,” he replied. “That’s my personal opinion, but no, I don’t.” Howard didn’t quite elaborate what exactly he meant by his disbelief of vaccinations, or if he’d ever been vaccinated for anything, for that matter.
In an interview with USA Today, the baller opened up about the coronavirus, saying he “didn’t know that the coronavirus be flying through the air looking for people.” Howard claimed not to need a mask because the people around him are inside the NBA’s bubble at Walt Disney World amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the coaches and other team staff may be stuck inside, Disney World employees can come and go, in and out of the park.
Howard went on to say that someone “told on” him earlier this week for not wearing a mask, but his videos of him live streaming without a mask may explain how people see that he is unmasked often.
According to Yahoo! Sports, Howard may want to consider the fact that Florida now has 350,000 cases as of Sunday. The state is averaging nearly 12,000 new cases a day over the past week, the outlet reports. While Howard may be somewhat protected in the campus bubble, that doesn’t his chances of becoming infected are lowered. Wearing a mask would significantly reduce the risk of him contracting the virus.
