San Diego Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested For Child Molestation

A San Diego County sheriff’s correctional deputy was arrested and booked on charges of child molestation, luring a minor into a sexual act and sending or showing harmful material in order to seduce a minor, Fox 5 reports.

Jaylen Devon Fleer, 27, was arrested and booked on Wednesday by Chula Vista police officers and was placed in the Vista Detention Center. The man had been with his department since June 2015, but now he faces 15 charges in connection to the arrest, including six counts of sending or showing harmful material, three counts for luring a minor for sex, two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with minor and oral copulation with a person under 16, among other charges, the outlet reports.

The department placed Fleer on administrative leave “when it became appropriate to do so,” said a department spokesperson. “The Sheriff’s Department takes allegations of illegal activity by its employees very seriously. We hold all our deputies to the highest standards and will hold deputies who violate the law accountable,” the department said in a news release.

Fleer was caught after police received two anonymous tips from Crime Stoppers. The information included details about an unidentified adult male suspect engaging in sexual acts with an underage person. Police found out that it was two underage victims that were involved. The San Diego police department worked with investigators during the probe. “The investigation determined the crimes committed by Fleer had no nexus to his employment,” said the department.

San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, Public Affairs Officer Tanya Sierra, said the case is “under review.” Fleer is expected to be arraigned on July 31, where his charges will be announced.
