17-year-old Georgia high school football player is mourning the loss of his parents due to COVID-19 complications just days apart.

Justin Hunter, a rising senior at Johns Creek High School and a linebacker on the school’s football team, tested positive for coronavirus two weeks ago. Although Hunter was asymptomatic, his parents, Eugene and Angie Hunter, developed alarming symptoms.

“They became very and they had the clear symptoms,” Hunter shared with WSBTV. “Their temperatures skyrocketed. They had headaches. Horrible cough, They felt very lazy.”

Justin stated that the family began quarantining separately, but things began turning for the worse. Eugene and Angie Hunter called an ambulance and later died at the same hospital.

Eugene Hunter, 59, died July 26 and Angie Hunter ,57, died July 30.

Justin states that he has no idea how the family contracted the virus and that his parents were taking all the necessary and proper precautions.

“We were a regular family just trying to stay safe during this pandemic,” Justin said. “When my mom would go to the store, she would be wearing mask and she would be wearing gloves.”

According to WSBTV, Justin states that his last conversation with his parents was his mom telling him she loves him and “God has you.” His dad said, “I love you and I’m going to get better and I’m going to keep fighting.”

Justin Hunter plans to live with relatives and dedicating his senior year to his parents. Hunter’s message to people about mask is, “If you don’t wear it for yourself, then wear it for the next person because you could be saving that person’s life.”
