Donald Trump’s former campaign boss, Steve Bannon, has been federally indicted for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in relation to a crowdfunding campaign to build the infamous border wall.
According to ABC News, Bannon was arrested early this morning in Washington, D.C., on charges regarding himself and others allegedly committing fraud in connection to the “We Build the Wall campaign.”
This Thursday, Bannon, 66, is expected to appear in court virtually. According to Prosecutors, Bannon and three others committed fraud against hundreds of thousands of donors to participate in the online campaign by making false promises that the organizers were not taking a penny of donation money. “Those representations were false,” the indictment reportedly said.
According to ABC News, the indictment states that Bannon took at least $1 million to pay personal expenses.
