As crowds marched Tuesday over the death of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky, 68 people were arrested.
CNN reports that interim police chief Robert Schroeder said that while the majority of protests were peaceful, a large group of protesters “crossed several intersections, creating dangerous situations as traffic continued to try to make its way in the area.”
The protesters were told by police to stay on the sidewalks, and those that did not comply were arrested and will be charged with obstructing the roadway and disorderly conduct.
On Tuesday, protesters came from all over the country, including Florida, Michigan, and New York to join this week’s protests, expected to have some of the largest crowds since her death.
Among the arrested were reality TV personalities Porsha Williams and Yandy Smith. Williams and Smith were previously arrested back in July for protesting Taylor’s death outside Attorney General Daniel Cameron’s home.
“A lot of times you want to give up, you want to walk away, but I know she deserves justice,” Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer told CNN.
Taylor was killed back in March when police executed a no-knock warrant on her home and returned fire after Taylor’s boyfriend fired a shot, thinking they were being robbed.
