A Los Angeles driver who crashed into three parked cars while allegedly driving under the influence will not face any criminal charges.
One man has received the break of a lifetime after TMZ reports he drove into three parked cars and drunkenly stumbled onto Sunset street while officers from the Los Angeles Police Department watched. Despite him driving under the influence and wrecking nearby cars, police say there is no way to legally charge him because they were never able to give him a sobriety test. There’s also video footage of the man showing the man seemingly overly intoxicated; however, law enforcement says their hands are tied.
The man’s lawyer says his client’s behavior may not necessarily mean he was drunk, saying there could have been a variety of other reasons why he was out of it. His attorney says that he may have an unexplained health or medical condition. Regardless, police would have had to determine his state with a sobriety or blood test, and because that did not happen, there’s nothing they can do.
In the meantime, police say they are conducting an internal investigation to see why the police officers decided against taking action and ignored the man’s actions, TMZ reports.
